Fire Glass Beads and Lava Rock for Your Fire Pit

When deciding on a filler for your new fire pit, it is recommended to use fire glass or lava rock as it can better withstand high temperatures.  Avoid materials like gravel, sand or river rock as it can spark excessively under high heat.

How does fire glass work?

Fire glass is a tempered, fire rated material that is chemically or pressure treated to withstand high temperatures.  Also, because of its reflective nature, it has an added benefit of radiating more heat.
